How to draw graffiti: a graffiti piece in 7 steps : You have redrawn your first Graffiti? You have created the first Tag? Nice! So let’s go forward !. Graffiti Pieces have become complex. To start off , I would recommend you to take your tag and transform it in a Graffiti Piece. Every Graffiti Piece contains the next parts: 1. The Fill-In: colored areas 2. the outline: colored or black line across the fill-ins 3. a 3D-shadow 4. experience 5. an additional outline around the whole piece 6. optionally: the tag name in the sprayer 7. optionally: highlights 8. optionally: the season of creation.

I use these materials: 1. regular piece of paper – e.g.: printing paper 2. soft uncolored eraser 3. pencil with 2B mine hardness 4. Fine Liners for Highlights and small areas 5. Copic Markers Multiliner 0.5 for outlines 6. At least a basis set of Copic Ciao markers for Fill-ins. I have the big group of Copic Ciao markers markers!. So, let’s dive right into it:

STEP 1: Trace your graffiti tag. If you used a marker you`ll probably look out of the Graffiti Tag should you put a piece of paper into it . So your first task is it in order to the sides in the lines having a pencil. But leave a small amount of space involving the edge from the marker along with your new pencil line. So the letter gets bigger. The result need to look much like the image shown below. Not that bad actually, but we should improve.

STEP 2: Improve the graffiti. The form of the whole Graffiti is important at the same time . The “E” at the beginning is bigger as opposed to “R” in the long run . So I made a decision to allow it to be smaller and add arrows on both sides to help it become a tight form.(red) I also added serifs or made them more complex .(blue circles). In typography, a serif could be the small extra stroke available at the end from the main vertical and horizontal strokes of some letters. In Graffiti you often use them to help you Piece more technical . I also added forms which improve the dynamic with the graffiti and allow it to be more complex.

The result looks much like the image below. This step usually implies a lot of trials and errors and takes a while . So don’t be sad if your Graffiti immediately won`t seem like you want to . Even in the event you are practised to draw Graffiti, this is going to take some time and intensive use with the eraser.

STEP 3: Redraw the lines with a fineliner. The next step is much easier . Take your Copic Markers Multiliner 0.5 or possibly a Fineliner pen and redraw your pencil lines. Wait some time afterwards to allow the color dry then erase all the pencil lines. The result should look this way.

A cheap printer with copy function like Canon PIXMA MG3620 or a similar product have to do the job . I use a previous version on this printer series and it works well but there are numerous others which work quite similar.

STEP 4: Color your graffiti piece. To make the coloring more advanced , I recommend you to definitely always draw gradients. In this case i colored the entire Graffiti Piece a single big gradient. If you want to make your piece to look even more technical , you`ll need to give a different gradient to every letter. The Copic Ciao markers have become best for drawing gradients. I have not achieved it with another marker yet.

Which color scheme to decide on ? In general I recommend one to use complementary colors for – foreground and background – or – fill-ins and shadows. If you want to use more colors, you need to use colors from the color shade of one in the 2 colors or all-around them on the colour wheel. You can also just find a Graffiti in our blog or on Google Image search and copy the color scheme. If you are a beginner, this process might fit well.

STEP 5: Drawing the shadows Choose a place below the Graffiti where each of the shadow blocks lead to . Like shown inside the photo below. Now choose what size the blocks must be . I took 1,5cm (1/2 inches) as length in such cases .

Now require a ruler and draw from every corner in the Graffiti a 1 .5cm (1/2 inches) long line for the chosen point. Then, connect the lines parallel for the Graffiti outline. The results are blocks, that you can fill with color.

Fill the Blocks with black. If you want more complex shadows you can add fake light spots with brighter areas within the middle transitioning to dark areas about the outside like done inside example.

STEP 6: Second outline and background The term “Second outline” describes the fishing line throughout the whole Graffiti. In this case I choose the complementary color to orange – blue. As a credentials I added bubbles and drips inside same color.

STEP 7: Optionally add highlights, your name-tag and the season of creation The gradient as Fill-In maybe is just too boring or seems not complex enough. So you can additional add lines and shapes above the Fill-In. Common shapes are bubbles, rectangles, arrows, refelections or outlines of shapes. Usually they may be colored in a very darker color shade of the color below of which . They can also be added to the background.

To complete your artwork, add your Name-Tag and the year of creation. If you are or would have been a person in a crew, then also add the abbreviation of your crew.

Draw your first tag. After you have done a Graffiti, visit our Collection of Graffiti Letters. Think about a name you want to use as being a sprayer. No ideas yet? Just start together with your real name! I provide several designs for each letter. You can search for letters by simply clicking the buttons in the top . Create the first Graffiti Tag using this method . So detail by detail : 1. have a marker now ; not really a pencil; Tags look a lot better if you utilize the proper marker – I used a Edding 500 Marker for your example Tag below. The Grog Cutter 08 XFP – Death Black can be a very good marker too and way cheaper . 2. get yourself a piece of paper 3. Go to our assortment of Graffiti Letters 4. Search for the letters for your name Example. I choose the phrase “Ether”. 5. You can optionally add drips, arrows and big serifs as highlights for a Tag like I did.

In the first part I will talk about how I started and provide a primary hint how to start out. The second part is really a tutorial, which can be separated into two parts. The first part offers the steps in your first Graffiti Tag. The second an example may be about transforming the Graffiti Tag in to a Graffiti Piece. Let’s go!

How I started to draw graffiti. Starting-out is definitely difficult. This is why I want to explain how I did it . My first Graffiti was “Limp Bizkit” through the album cover from “Significant other”. Do you know it? I loved this guitar rock band and still love em and decided to draw in it since it impressed me. I was lucky and was quite content with my first drawing.

So that is my first part of you is: 1. get yourself a pencil 2. get yourself a sheet of paper 3. have an eraser 4. search for a Graffiti you prefer with Google Image Search, that you can certainly identify the letters. For Instance “simple style Graffiti” may be used like a key word . 5. and draw it!

Maybe you might need a couple of tries at the start . This is nothing to concern yourself with . Noone is a professional immediately . So practice, practice, practice, practice! I know your family will enjoy it!
