How I started to draw graffiti. Starting-out is always difficult. This is why I want to explain how I made it happen . My first Graffiti was “Limp Bizkit” from the album cover from “Significant other”. Do you know it? I loved this rock band yet still love em and decided to draw it because it impressed me. I was lucky and was quite satisfied with my first drawing.

So that is my first job for you is: 1. get yourself a pencil 2. get yourself a notepad 3. have an eraser 4. visit a Graffiti that suits you with Google Image Search, in which you can easily identify the letters. For Instance “simple style Graffiti” may be used being a key word . 5. and draw it!

Maybe you will need a few tries at the start . This is absolutely nothing to bother about . Noone is often a professional straight away . So practice, practice, practice, practice! I know you`ll make it!

STEP 1: Trace your graffiti tag. If you used a marker you will likely look out of the Graffiti Tag in case you put a sheet of paper into it . So your first task is it to trace the sides from the lines which has a pencil. But leave a small amount of space involving the edge of the marker plus your new pencil line. So the letter gets bigger. The result should look much like the image shown below. Not that bad actually, but we should improve.

STEP 2: Improve the graffiti. The form in the whole Graffiti is essential as well . The “E” from the outset is larger than the “R” in the end . So I thought we would help it become smaller and add arrows on both sides to make it a compact form.(red) I also added serifs or made them more technical .(blue circles). In typography, a serif will be the small extra stroke available at the finish from the main vertical and horizontal strokes of some letters. In Graffiti you often use them to allow you to Piece more technical . I also added forms which enhance the dynamic with the graffiti and ensure it is more complex.

The result looks like the image below. This step usually implies plenty of trials and errors and takes some time . So don’t be sad when the Graffiti immediately won`t resemble you need to . Even should you are practised to attract Graffiti, this step is going to take a while and intensive use with the eraser.

STEP 3: Redraw the lines having a fineliner. The next step is easier . Take your Copic Markers Multiliner 0.5 or possibly a Fineliner pen and redraw your pencil lines. Wait some time afterwards permit along with dry and after that erase all of the pencil lines. The result may need to look similar to this.

A cheap printer with copy function like Canon PIXMA MG3620 or possibly a similar product should do the project . I use a previous version with this printer series and delay pills work well but there are various others which work quite similar.

STEP 4: Color your graffiti piece. To make the coloring more complicated , I recommend you to definitely always draw gradients. In this case i colored the complete Graffiti Piece in one big gradient. If you wish to help make your piece to appear even more advanced , you`ll need to include a different gradient to each letter. The Copic Ciao markers are extremely great for drawing gradients. I have not achieved it with another marker yet.

Which color scheme to select ? In general I recommend that you use complementary colors for – foreground and background – or – fill-ins and shadows. If you need to use more colors, you should use colors from your color shade of 1 of the 2 colors or near to them on the colour wheel. You can also just look for a Graffiti in your blog or on Google Image search and copy large scheme. If you are a beginner, this process might fit well.

STEP 5: Drawing the shadows Choose a point below the Graffiti where each of the shadow blocks result in . Like shown inside photo below. Now choose how big is the blocks should be . I took 1,5cm (1/2 inches) as length in this instance .

Now please take a ruler and combine every corner in the Graffiti single .5cm (1/2 inches) long line on the chosen point. Then, connect the lines parallel towards the Graffiti outline. The results are blocks, which you`ll want to fill with color.

Fill the Blocks with black. If you want more advanced shadows you can include fake light spots with brighter areas within the middle transitioning to dark areas around the outside like done within the example.

STEP 6: Second outline and background The term “Second outline” describes the road around the whole Graffiti. In this case I choose the complementary color to orange – blue. As experience I added bubbles and drips inside the same color.

STEP 7: Optionally add highlights, your name-tag and the season of creation The gradient as Fill-In maybe is just too boring or seems not complex enough. So you can additional add lines and shapes higher than the Fill-In. Common shapes are bubbles, rectangles, arrows, refelections or outlines of shapes. Usually they may be colored in a darker color shade with the color below of which . They can also be added on the background.

To complete your artwork, add your Name-Tag and the entire year of creation. If you are or would have been a an affiliate a crew, then add the abbreviation of your respective crew.

In the first part I will speak about how I started and give you an initial hint how to start out. The second part can be a tutorial, that`s divided into two parts. The first part provides the steps to your first Graffiti Tag. The second you are about transforming the Graffiti Tag in to a Graffiti Piece. Let’s go!

How to draw in graffiti: the first graffiti piece in 7 steps : You have redrawn your first Graffiti? You have created your first Tag? Nice! So let’s move ahead !. Graffiti Pieces have become complex. To start , I would recommend you to definitely take your tag and transform it into a Graffiti Piece. Every Graffiti Piece includes the next parts: 1. The Fill-In: colored areas 2. the outline: colored or black line throughout the fill-ins 3. a 3D-shadow 4. a background 5. an extra outline round the whole piece 6. optionally: the tag name from the sprayer 7. optionally: highlights 8. optionally: the entire year of creation.

I use the next materials: 1. regular sheet of paper – e.g.: printing paper 2. soft uncolored eraser 3. pencil with 2B mine hardness 4. Fine Liners for Highlights and small areas 5. Copic Markers Multiliner 0.5 for outlines 6. At least a basis list of Copic Ciao markers for Fill-ins. I have the top set of Copic Ciao markers markers!. So, let’s dive straight to it:

Draw a tag. After you have done your first Graffiti, head to our Collection of Graffiti Letters. Think about a name you wish to use like a sprayer. No ideas yet? Just start off using your real name! I provide several designs per letter. You can search for letters by hitting the buttons in the top . Create the first Graffiti Tag using this method . So detail by detail : 1. get yourself a marker this time ; not a pencil; Tags look much better if you use the correct marker – I used a Edding 500 Marker to the example Tag below. The Grog Cutter 08 XFP – Death Black can be a very good marker as well and more cost effective . 2. get yourself a small note 3. Go to our variety of Graffiti Letters 4. Search for your letters on your name Example. I choose the saying “Ether”. 5. You can optionally add drips, arrows and big serifs as highlights in your Tag like I did.
