How I started to draw in graffiti. Starting-out is always difficult. This is why I want to explain how I made it happen . My first Graffiti was “Limp Bizkit” from your album cover from “Significant other”. Do you know it? I loved this guitar rock band but still love em and decided to attract it since it impressed me. I was lucky and was quite satisfied with my first drawing.

So this can be my first job for you is: 1. have a pencil 2. have a sheet of paper 3. receive an eraser 4. find a Graffiti you prefer with Google Image Search, in places you can simply identify the letters. For Instance “simple style Graffiti” may be used like a search term . 5. and draw it!

Maybe you need a handful of tries at first . This is absolutely nothing to bother about . Noone can be a professional straight away . So practice, practice, practice, practice! I know you`ll make it!

Draw the first tag. After you have done your first Graffiti, check out our Collection of Graffiti Letters. Think about a name you would like to use like a sprayer. No ideas yet? Just start off with your real name! I provide several designs per letter. You can search for letters by hitting the buttons at the top . Create a Graffiti Tag in this way . So detail by detail : 1. have a marker this time ; not only a pencil; Tags look way better if you are using the right marker – I used a Edding 500 Marker for your example Tag below. The Grog Cutter 08 XFP – Death Black is a very good marker too and less expensive . 2. obtain a sheet of paper 3. Go to our number of Graffiti Letters 4. Search for that letters for your name Example. I choose the saying “Ether”. 5. You can optionally add drips, arrows and big serifs as highlights for a Tag like I did.

How to draw graffiti: the first graffiti piece in 7 steps : You have redrawn a Graffiti? You have created your first Tag? Nice! So let’s proceed !. Graffiti Pieces are very complex. To begin , I would recommend you to definitely take your tag and transform it into a Graffiti Piece. Every Graffiti Piece consists of the subsequent parts: 1. The Fill-In: colored areas 2. the outline: colored or black line around the fill-ins 3. a 3D-shadow 4. experience 5. a second outline across the whole piece 6. optionally: the tag name of the sprayer 7. optionally: highlights 8. optionally: 4 seasons of creation.

I use the next materials: 1. regular sheet of paper – e.g.: printing paper 2. soft uncolored eraser 3. pencil with 2B mine hardness 4. Fine Liners for Highlights and small areas 5. Copic Markers Multiliner 0.5 for outlines 6. At least a basis set of Copic Ciao markers for Fill-ins. I have the important group of Copic Ciao markers markers!. So, let’s dive directly into it:

STEP 1: Trace your graffiti tag. If you used a marker you`ll likely predict the Graffiti Tag should you put a sheet of paper onto it . So a task can it be in order to the sides from the lines which has a pencil. But leave a small amount of space between your edge from the marker as well as your new pencil line. So the letter gets bigger. The result need to look like the image shown below. Not that bad actually, but we would like to improve.

STEP 2: Improve the graffiti. The form of the whole Graffiti is important too . The “E” from the outset is larger as opposed to “R” eventually . So I made a decision to allow it to be smaller and add arrows on both sides to make it a compressed form.(red) I also added serifs or made them more technical .(blue circles). In typography, a serif may be the small extra stroke bought at the conclusion in the main vertical and horizontal strokes of some letters. In Graffiti it`s easy to have used them to make you Piece more technical . I also added forms which help the dynamic with the graffiti and ensure it is more complicated.

The result looks just like the image below. This step usually implies plenty of trials and errors and takes a little while . So don’t be sad if your Graffiti immediately will not appear to be you want to . Even should you are practised to attract Graffiti, this step will need a little while and intensive use of the eraser.

STEP 3: Redraw the lines using a fineliner. The next step is much easier . Take your Copic Markers Multiliner 0.5 or possibly a Fineliner pen and redraw your pencil lines. Wait time afterwards to allow along with dry and then erase each of the pencil lines. The result should look such as this.

A cheap printer with copy function like Canon PIXMA MG3620 or a similar product ought to do the project . I use a previous version with this printer series and delay pills work well but there are lots of others which work quite similar.

STEP 4: Color your graffiti piece. To make the coloring more complex , I recommend you to definitely always draw gradients. In this case i colored the complete Graffiti Piece a single big gradient. If you wish to make your piece to check even more complex , you will have to put in a different gradient to every one letter. The Copic Ciao markers have become great for drawing gradients. I have not achieved it with another marker yet.

Which color scheme to choose ? In general I recommend you to definitely use complementary colors for – foreground and background – or – fill-ins and shadows. If you wish to use more colors, you need to use colors through the color shade of one from the 2 colors or all-around them on large wheel. You can also just find a Graffiti in your blog or on Google Image search and copy the colour scheme. If you are a beginner, this method might fit well.

STEP 5: Drawing the shadows Choose an area below the Graffiti where all the shadow blocks cause . Like shown within the photo below. Now choose how big is the blocks should be . I took 1,5cm (1/2 inches) as length in this instance .

Now have a ruler and tap into every corner of the Graffiti a single .5cm (1/2 inches) long line for the chosen point. Then, connect the lines parallel towards the Graffiti outline. The results are blocks, which you`ll fill with color.

Fill the Blocks with black. If you want more complicated shadows you can add fake light spots with brighter areas inside middle transitioning to dark areas about the outside like done inside the example.

STEP 6: Second outline and background The term “Second outline” describes the road across the whole Graffiti. In this case I choose the complementary color to orange – blue. As an identification I added bubbles and drips inside same color.

STEP 7: Optionally add highlights, your name-tag and the entire year of creation The gradient as Fill-In maybe is just too boring or seems not complex enough. So you can additional add lines and shapes higher than the Fill-In. Common shapes are bubbles, rectangles, arrows, refelections or outlines of shapes. Usually they`re colored in the darker color shade with the color below of these . They can also be added for the background.

To complete your artwork, add your Name-Tag and the year of creation. If you are or will be a person in a crew, then add the abbreviation of the crew.

In the first part I will talk about how I started and provide the first hint how to start out. The second part is a tutorial, that`s separated into two parts. The first part offers the steps to your first Graffiti Tag. The second one is about transforming the Graffiti Tag right into a Graffiti Piece. Let’s go!
