How to draw graffiti: the first graffiti piece in 7 steps : You have redrawn the first Graffiti? You have created your first Tag? Nice! So let’s go forward !. Graffiti Pieces have become complex. To start out , I would recommend you to definitely take your tag and transform it right into a Graffiti Piece. Every Graffiti Piece includes the next parts: 1. The Fill-In: colored areas 2. the outline: colored or black line across the fill-ins 3. a 3D-shadow 4. experience 5. a second outline across the whole piece 6. optionally: the tag name with the sprayer 7. optionally: highlights 8. optionally: 4 seasons of creation.

I use the subsequent materials: 1. regular notepad – e.g.: printing paper 2. soft uncolored eraser 3. pencil with 2B mine hardness 4. Fine Liners for Highlights and small areas 5. Copic Markers Multiliner 0.5 for outlines 6. At least a basis set of Copic Ciao markers for Fill-ins. I have the top pair of Copic Ciao markers markers!. So, let’s dive directly into it:

In the first part I will discuss how I started and provide the first hint steps to start out. The second part can be a tutorial, that is separated into two parts. The first part offers the steps for your first Graffiti Tag. The second an example may be about transforming the Graffiti Tag in to a Graffiti Piece. Let’s go!

STEP 1: Trace your graffiti tag. If you used a marker you`ll likely see through the Graffiti Tag should you put a piece of paper into it . So the first task can it be to trace the edges with the lines having a pencil. But leave some space involving the edge of the marker along with your new pencil line. So the letter gets bigger. The result should look just like the image shown below. Not that bad actually, but we would like to improve.

STEP 2: Improve the graffiti. The form with the whole Graffiti is essential as well . The “E” in the beginning is greater as opposed to “R” eventually . So I made a decision to ensure it is smaller and add arrows on both sides to make it a compressed form.(red) I also added serifs or made them more technical .(blue circles). In typography, a serif could be the small extra stroke found at the conclusion from the main vertical and horizontal strokes of some letters. In Graffiti you frequently rely on them to help you Piece more technical . I also added forms which enhance the dynamic with the graffiti and allow it to be more complex.

The result looks just like the image below. This step usually implies a lot of trials and errors and takes a while . So don’t be sad when the Graffiti immediately won`t seem like you want to . Even if you are practised to draw in Graffiti, this will require some time and intensive use from the eraser.

STEP 3: Redraw the lines with a fineliner. The next step is much easier . Take your Copic Markers Multiliner 0.5 or even a Fineliner pen and redraw your pencil lines. Wait a little while afterwards permit large dry and then erase every one of the pencil lines. The result should look such as this.

A cheap printer with copy function like Canon PIXMA MG3620 or possibly a similar product ought to do the work . I use a previous version on this printer series and it works well but there are several others which work quite similar.

STEP 4: Color your graffiti piece. To make the coloring more advanced , I recommend one to always draw gradients. In this case i colored the complete Graffiti Piece in a big gradient. If you would like to build your piece to look even more complicated , you will have to give a different gradient to every one letter. The Copic Ciao markers are very best for drawing gradients. I have not achieved it with another marker yet.

Which color scheme to decide on ? In general I recommend you to definitely use complementary colors for – foreground and background – or – fill-ins and shadows. If you wish to use more colors, you should use colors through the color shade of one with the 2 colors or near to them on large wheel. You can also just find a Graffiti in our blog or on Google Image search and copy the color scheme. If you are a beginner, this method might fit well.

STEP 5: Drawing the shadows Choose an area below the Graffiti where all of the shadow blocks lead to . Like shown inside the photo below. Now choose how big the blocks needs to be . I took 1,5cm (1/2 inches) as length in this instance .

Now take a ruler and combine every corner in the Graffiti a 1 hour .5cm (1/2 inches) long line on the chosen point. Then, connect the lines parallel for the Graffiti outline. The results are blocks, which you`ll fill with color.

Fill the Blocks with black. If you want more technical shadows you can include fake light spots with brighter areas within the middle transitioning to dark areas about the outside like done within the example.

STEP 6: Second outline and background The term “Second outline” describes the line across the whole Graffiti. In this case I choose the complementary color to orange – blue. As a credentials I added bubbles and drips in the same color.

STEP 7: Optionally add highlights, your name-tag and the year of creation The gradient as Fill-In maybe is just too boring or seems not complex enough. So you can additional add lines and shapes higher than the Fill-In. Common shapes are bubbles, rectangles, arrows, refelections or outlines of shapes. Usually they`re colored in a darker color shade of the color below of which . They can be also added on the background.

To complete your artwork, add your Name-Tag and the entire year of creation. If you are or will be a part of a crew, then also add the abbreviation of the crew.

Draw the first tag. After you have done a Graffiti, go to our Collection of Graffiti Letters. Think about a name you wish to use as a sprayer. No ideas yet? Just start with your real name! I provide several designs for each and every letter. You can search for letters by hitting the buttons on the top . Create a Graffiti Tag in this way . So step-by-step : 1. obtain a marker this time around ; not a pencil; Tags look much better if you are using the best marker – I used a Edding 500 Marker for the example Tag below. The Grog Cutter 08 XFP – Death Black is often a very good marker also and more cost effective . 2. get yourself a sheet of paper 3. Go to our assortment of Graffiti Letters 4. Search for that letters to your name Example. I choose the word “Ether”. 5. You can optionally add drips, arrows and big serifs as highlights for a Tag like I did.

How I started to attract graffiti. Starting-out is always difficult. This is why I want to explain how I achieved it . My first Graffiti was “Limp Bizkit” from the album cover from “Significant other”. Do you know it? I loved this rock band whilst still being love em and decided to draw it because it impressed me. I was lucky and was quite pleased with my first drawing.

So this really is my first task for you is: 1. get a pencil 2. obtain a sheet of paper 3. receive an eraser 4. find a Graffiti you want with Google Image Search, where you can easily identify the letters. For Instance “simple style Graffiti” may be used as a key phrase . 5. and draw it!

Maybe you will need a couple of tries at first . This is absolutely nothing to bother about . Noone is really a professional right away . So practice, practice, practice, practice! I know your family will enjoy it!
