How I started to draw in graffiti. Starting-out is obviously difficult. This is why I want to explain how I made it happen . My first Graffiti was “Limp Bizkit” from your album cover from “Significant other”. Do you know it? I loved this rock band whilst still being love em and decided to attract it since it impressed me. I was lucky and was quite delighted by my first drawing.

So this can be my first part of you is: 1. get a pencil 2. have a sheet of paper 3. have an eraser 4. look for a Graffiti you prefer with Google Image Search, that you can readily identify the letters. For Instance “simple style Graffiti” could possibly be used like a key phrase . 5. and draw it!

Maybe you may need a few tries in the beginning . This is not even attempt to worry about . Noone can be a professional right away . So practice, practice, practice, practice! I know you`ll make it!

Draw the first tag. After you have done a Graffiti, visit our Collection of Graffiti Letters. Think about a name you need to use being a sprayer. No ideas yet? Just start out along with your real name! I provide several designs for every letter. You can search for letters by simply clicking on the buttons in the top . Create a Graffiti Tag using this method . So step-by-step : 1. obtain a marker now ; not just a pencil; Tags look way better if you use the correct marker – I used a Edding 500 Marker for your example Tag below. The Grog Cutter 08 XFP – Death Black is a very good marker too and more cost effective . 2. obtain a piece of paper 3. Go to our variety of Graffiti Letters 4. Search for the letters to your name Example. I choose the phrase “Ether”. 5. You can optionally add drips, arrows and big serifs as highlights in your Tag like I did.

In the first part I will discuss how I started and give you the first hint steps to start out. The second part is often a tutorial, that is split up into two parts. The first part offers the steps for a first Graffiti Tag. The second one is about transforming the Graffiti Tag in to a Graffiti Piece. Let’s go!

STEP 1: Trace your graffiti tag. If you used a marker you will probably look out of the Graffiti Tag if you put a small note into it . So your first task is it to follow the edges from the lines having a pencil. But leave a bit of space between the edge in the marker as well as your new pencil line. So the letter gets bigger. The result should look such as the image shown below. Not that bad actually, but we would like to improve.

STEP 2: Improve the graffiti. The form with the whole Graffiti is very important also . The “E” in the beginning is larger compared to “R” in the long run . So I decided to allow it to be smaller and add arrows on both sides to help it become a compressed form.(red) I also added serifs or made them more complex .(blue circles). In typography, a serif is the small extra stroke bought at the final with the main vertical and horizontal strokes of some letters. In Graffiti it`s easy to rely on them to allow you to Piece more technical . I also added forms which enhance the dynamic in the graffiti and make it more technical.

The result looks like the image below. This step usually implies a great deal of trials and errors and takes time . So don’t be sad when the Graffiti immediately won`t look like you need to . Even in the event you are practised to draw in Graffiti, this is going to take a while and intensive use of the eraser.

STEP 3: Redraw the lines which has a fineliner. The next step is much simpler . Take your Copic Markers Multiliner 0.5 or perhaps a Fineliner pen and redraw your pencil lines. Wait time afterwards to let the color dry then erase each of the pencil lines. The result need to look such as this.

A cheap printer with copy function like Canon PIXMA MG3620 or possibly a similar product have to do the job . I use a previous version with this printer series and it works well but there are several others which work quite similar.

STEP 4: Color your graffiti piece. To make the coloring more advanced , I recommend you to definitely always draw gradients. In this case i colored the full Graffiti Piece in a big gradient. If you want to you could make your piece to appear even more advanced , you will have to put in a different gradient to every one letter. The Copic Ciao markers have become great for drawing gradients. I have not achieved it with another marker yet.

Which color scheme to pick ? In general I recommend that you use complementary colors for – foreground and background – or – fill-ins and shadows. If you want to use more colors, you should use colors through the color shade of 1 from the 2 colors or close to them on large wheel. You can also just look for a Graffiti inside our blog or on Google Image search and copy the color scheme. If you are a beginner, this method might fit well.

STEP 5: Drawing the shadows Choose a place below the Graffiti where every one of the shadow blocks cause . Like shown within the photo below. Now choose how big is the blocks must be . I took 1,5cm (1/2 inches) as length in this instance .

Now have a ruler and tap into every corner of the Graffiti a 1 hour .5cm (1/2 inches) long line for the chosen point. Then, connect the lines parallel to the Graffiti outline. The results are blocks, that you can fill with color.

Fill the Blocks with black. If you want more complex shadows you can contribute fake light spots with brighter areas in the middle transitioning to dark areas about the outside like done inside the example.

STEP 6: Second outline and background The term “Second outline” describes the fishing line throughout the whole Graffiti. In this case I choose the complementary color to orange – blue. As a background I added bubbles and drips in the same color.

STEP 7: Optionally add highlights, your name-tag and the entire year of creation The gradient as Fill-In maybe is simply too boring or seems not complex enough. So you can additional add lines and shapes over the Fill-In. Common shapes are bubbles, rectangles, arrows, refelections or outlines of shapes. Usually they may be colored in a very darker color shade of the color below of these . They can be also added to the background.

To complete your artwork, add your Name-Tag and the entire year of creation. If you are or might be a person in a crew, then include the abbreviation of your crew.

How to draw in graffiti: your first graffiti piece in 7 steps : You have redrawn your first Graffiti? You have created your first Tag? Nice! So let’s move on !. Graffiti Pieces have become complex. To begin , I would recommend that you take your tag and transform it in to a Graffiti Piece. Every Graffiti Piece consists of the next parts: 1. The Fill-In: colored areas 2. the outline: colored or black line round the fill-ins 3. a 3D-shadow 4. an identification 5. another outline around the whole piece 6. optionally: the tag name with the sprayer 7. optionally: highlights 8. optionally: 4 seasons of creation.

I use these materials: 1. regular sheet of paper – e.g.: printing paper 2. soft uncolored eraser 3. pencil with 2B mine hardness 4. Fine Liners for Highlights and small areas 5. Copic Markers Multiliner 0.5 for outlines 6. At least a basis pair of Copic Ciao markers for Fill-ins. I have the big set of Copic Ciao markers markers!. So, let’s dive straight to it:
